Maine drug trafficking suspect arrested again for same crime

ELLSWORTH (WGME) -- An Ellsworth man who was arrested last week for drug trafficking has been arrested once again after police say a search of his home turned up $42,000 worth of fentanyl and meth.

Last Wednesday, six Mainers were arrested after authorities said they found fentanyl, crack, and more inside homes in Ellsworth and Mount Desert.

Among those arrested was 48-year-old Jeffrey Card. At the time of his initial arrest, Card was charged with unlawful trafficking in methamphetamine. He was later released from the Hancock County Jail on $5,000 cash bail.

On Wednesday, police say they went to Card’s home on Kylie’s Way in Ellsworth to search the house as part of his bail conditions, which Card had agreed to.

Authorities says they found 1/2 pound of fentanyl along with 36 grams of suspected methamphetamine inside Card’s home. The combined estimated street value of the drugs is $42,000.

Following the search, Card was arrested again, and this time was charged with aggravated trafficking in schedule W drugs (fentanyl and methamphetamine) and violations of conditions of release.

He was taken to the Hancock County Jail.
