I was able to set up and access my 1080p camera using the app through my Android phone. Similarly I was able to set up my wife’s Kindle Fire tablet to access the live feed. We can P2P using these Android devices without difficulty. However, I’m having a devil of a time trying to access the cam through my Win10 laptop!
I’ve tried:
• Using the Amcrest IP Config tool. The camera shows up but I can’t login. I’ve tried using the admin/admin id/password combo as well as the exact password that wifey and I use for the P2P feed.
• I’ve tried signing on using the device ip. Again it does not recognize the same password that works for Android P2P access and the admin userid.
• After multiple, unsuccessful tries of the above procedures, I get an “account is locked” message. I’ve had to unplug the camera to reset.
• I’ve also tried resetting the camera. (This necessitated setting up P2P again to ensure that this was successful. I’ve kept the same password throughout.)
• I’ve tried accessing through amcrestview.com. Initially, I was able to register for an account and download the browser plugin. I’ve tried to sign on to the device but it didn’t recognize the device listed in the account. I really can’t do anything without that obnoxious nag saying that I need to download/install the plugin. Now I can’t even log into the account! I’ve tried logging into the device without success. BTW, does this use the same “Device Name” that I use in the P2P connection?
• I’ve tried using Chrome, Edge, IE (Edge “Open this page in Internet Explorer” option). And, YES, I did download the plugin!
• I’ve forwarded the port in my router for the camera IP.
What am I doing wrong? Does this camera even work with Windows 10? I know that I’ve brought up a lot of issues but I feel that this isn’t ready for primetime.
Do I have to Have PC Access for Full Functionality?
I would love to access my new came using my PC. Since I can access feeds using our phone and tablet, I wouldn’t HAVE to access through my laptop but how would I install and format my SD card? Is there other reduced functionality due to lack of PC access?
